2025 West Volusia Teacher Free Roof Winner

Beery Roofing chooses teacher to get free roof

Jazmyn Robertson teaches at Debary Elementary

Beery Roofing & Redesign LLC loves giving back to their local community! As many of you know, roofing company owners Sean and Brenda Beery have two passions they support: veterans and education. Sean served eight years in the U.S. Army and Brenda spent 22-years with Volusia County Schools.

Beery Roofing established the annual “FREE Roof for a Veteran” contest in 2021, and now has expanded to educators! “We have wanted to award a FREE roof to a West Volusia Public School Teacher”, Brenda Beery said. This year they will. The name of the first educator to win a free roof was drawn May 9, 2025, during Teacher Appreciation Week. Jazmyn Robertson is the winner!

Brenda and Sean Beery, at right, congratulate Christopher and Jazmyn Robertson. Jazmyn is a teacher, and was chosen as the winner of Beery Roofing’s 2025 Free Roof for a West Volusia Public School Teacher. The DeLand company also awards a Free Roof for a Veteran each year, and added the teacher contest this year.

Jazmyn has been a Volusia County public school teacher for 11-years. She was born in Orlando and attended Trinity Christian Academy. Jazmyn met her future husband, Christopher, while at Trinity. She then majored in Art at the University of Central Florida, but later transferred to Daytona State College to pursue her degree in elementary education. Educators complete internships in local schools, so Jazmyn interned with Osteen Elementary. Her first teaching job was at Spirit Elementary in Deltona, where she taught kindergarten for three years and second grade for one year. Jazmyn then transferred to DeBary Elementary to teach second grade, and has now been in DeBary for seven years. There, she has taught kindergartners, first graders and second graders.

For the coming school year, Jazmyn will be teaching the new voluntary pre-kindergarten class that is being added at DeBary Elementary for the 2025-26 school year. Jazmyn’s passion for teaching young readers comes from a deeply personal place – one rooted in her own early struggles with literacy. “I was a struggling reader and in ESE classes through third grade, which is why I love teaching reading to littles,” she added.

Jazmyn lives in Orange City with her husband and two children. Daughter Adalee is heading into second grade as a DeBary Eagle. Adalee’s little brother, Wayne, will be starting kindergarten in the fall. Jazmyn’s sister-in-law and mother-in-law also teach at DeBary Elementary. The Robertsons’ new roof will be installed in a few weeks and will be completely FREE for them!
